Adelaide Fringe at the Regal Theatre

It is less than a month until Adelaide Fringe gets underway and we are very excited to say that the Regal Theatre will be a major player in this years event! We have no less than 6 different acts with a combination of some familiar faces and others to make their Regal debut. If you’ve ever been to a live music event here, you will know how fantastic they are.. and if you haven’t, then it’s time to come and see for yourself! So without any further ado, let’s introduce you to the lineup..

 

Local legends and veterans of the Regal Theatre, The Flaming Sambucas return with shows celebrating 2 of the biggest musical acts in music history.

ABBA GOLD

Fringe favourites (Flaming Sambucas with expanded band) return with their nationally acclaimed ABBA GOLD show. This show has been designed to highlight ABBA’s historical Australian Tour of 1977 – which coincided with the release of their most famous album ARRIVAL. This visual and exciting story-telling show guarantees to touch your emotions as it journeys back upon those wonderful ABBA years of the 1970’s. So many songs etched into our memories, these songs are part of our lives – Waterloo, Knowing Me Knowing You, Fernando, Dancing Queen and so many more. It’s always a sell-out, so be quick.

ELTON SHOW – Your Song

There will never be another like Elton John!

The Flaming Sambucas (extended band), with Terry Nicholas at the Grand Piano, pay tribute to the timeless songs of Elton John/ Bernie Taupin – Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man, Philadelphia Freedom and so many more.

The genius in the music is one thing, but the love and kindness of the man is another.

You will be moved as The Flaming Sambucas take you on a musical and ‘big screen’ journey from Elton’s beginnings – performing this wonderful soundtrack to our lives whilst also telling this incredible love story along the way. Complimented with stunning costumes, the Grand Piano, a mix of vocals from Natalie Ermer, Heidi Rilstone and Shelley Pantic, Matt McNamee (drums) and Tzan Niko (guitar), this is a fully produced show – not just a concert.

For the first time ever, Night Owl Shows are bringing 3 of their acts to the Regal Theatre, presenting ground-breaking and informative productions depicting the lives of some of the most influential singer songwriters of the 20th Century. Their shows are delivered with integrity and passion using background images and narration combined with live music in their unique ‘show-umentary’ format.

CALIFORNIAN LEGENDS

Take a trip through L.A in the early 70’s during a time when this collective of legends shaped the world of music that we know today.Recording just a stone’s throw from each other and guesting on each other’s records James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Carole king with the addition of Carly Simon worked simultaneously to turn out some of the greatest songs of all time.

‘Californian Legends’ has bottled this intensely productive period and delivers it to the Regal Theatre. Includes hits You’ve Got A Friend, Natural Woman, I Feel The Earth Move, Big Yellow Taxi, You’re So Vain and many more.

THE CARPENTERS SONGBOOK

UKULELE DEATH SQUAD: The Squadfather

After playing to 2 packed out audiences at last years Fringe, the Regal is very excited to welcome back the bad boys of uke – The Ukulele Death Squad.

Life isn’t easy in the world’s most dangerous ukulele band. As they sell-out shows globally, they’ve met fierce resistance; the old ways of playing ukulele are changing. With broken strings, broken ukes, torn cuticles and a ruthless attitude, the Ukulele Death Squad will tell the tale of the late Bruce Riley – AKA – ‘The Squad Father’. The man who was single-handedly responsible for their meteoric rise. Watch them struggle in their quest to protect and expand their nylon empire as these four string virtuosos ruthlessly tear up the stage one nylon string at time in a fitting tribute for their patriarch.

With Sold out Adelaide and Edinburgh Seasons 2017, 2018 and 2019, winners of “Best Musical Act – Adelaide Fringe 2018,” UDS are back in 2020 exceeding all expectations.
